Singular/Serial: Contemporary Monoprinting

Greta Guzek, Kim LaFave, Jen Drysdale, Jennifer Love

Sunday June 27th, 2:00PM – 4:00PM

Exhibition Dates: May 28 – June 27, 2021

The Sunshine Coast Arts Council invites you to join us for a garden party in celebration of the Singular/Serial: Contemporary Monoprinting exhibition. Join us in our beautiful garden to meet with the artists whose work is currently on exhibition at the Doris Crowston Gallery in Sechelt. This will be an opportunity to gather safely as a community and celebrate a wonderful exhibition, learn more about monoprinting, and delve deeper into each artist’s unique take on this printmaking process.

The Singular/Serial exhibition showcases the diverse work of a 4 Sunshine Coast artists who have, in their distinctly individual styles, been exploring the possibilities inherent in using monoprinting on a gel plate as an essential element in their process. The making of a hand-pulled print adds, in its process, an extra excitement to the final artwork.

The works exhibited together exemplify experiments in process, composition, materials and forms. From a similar printing approach emerges an extraordinary range of works that express that the alternatives for creating texture and pattern are endless. The balance of intended and unanticipated results lends an intensity to the mark making, and a freshness to the image printed.

We are pleased to be able to hold this event in accordance with the latest round of public health guidelines in British Columbia. Capacity at this event will be limited. We ask that all guests respect social distancing protocols. Masks are required within the gallery, and recommended in the garden. We will not be serving food or drink at this time.

The SCAC would like to thank our generous sponsors who make our ongoing work possible: the SCAC Membership, the District of Sechelt, the BC Arts Council, the SC Community Forest Fund, the Canada Council for the Arts, the Sunshine Coast Foundation and the Sunshine Coast Credit Union.
