The Only Animal Theatre Society
The Only Animal (TOA) is an interdisciplinary arts company whose mission is to bring art and artists to the heart of the climate crisis. Our current projects explore how place-based creativity can set the stage for climate care and sensitize relationships between people and place. We prioritize long-term and porous relationships with the public and our artist collaborators, shifting what we do in response to local curiosities and needs. Our summer project, DREAM TECH explored dreaming as creative practice, as story, as connection, and as a way of building futures together.
The Only Animal’s Marketplace Offering: naturally dyed sleep masks, bandanas and printed fabrics to inspire dreamers and creators. Also visit them out at Mission Point House to experience video and textile installation, made with dreams from our community!
Nadina Tandy
Nadina creates large-scale analog collage, using found source materials that are cut and paste into expansive compositions. Her work engages with themes of archetypes and the collective unconscious, interwoven with personal imagery often masked in humour. This process of reconfiguration enables her to explore deeper connection to identity and memory.
Find Nadina’s wearable art collection inspired by the eccentric and whimsical collage characters brought to life on t-shirts cards and postcards at our marketplace!
Nell Burns
As a textile artist, Nell uses traditional embroidery techniques to push the limits of textile art, shifting two-dimensional surfaces into three-dimensional sculpture. With a background in fashion and textile design, she has evolved her practice into a fluid, tactile dialogue with thread to create sculptures that move beyond the surface. Nell treat’s thread as both structure and medium. A lot of her work is an exploration of textures of their environment, and aim’s to capture the essence of those ecosystems by building, stitching, and sculpting materials into forms that invite a closer, tactile engagement with nature.
