Five years ago my husband and I moved to an off-the-grid property on the Sechelt Inlet. It is in this idyllic landscape that I discovered making jewellery. Each piece is hand crafted, with most being one-of-a-kind items. The forest and ocean of my habitat inspire me. I’m attracted to organic substances: amber, coral, wood and pearls along with precious and semi-precious stones.
The majority of my work uses silver and copper, though at times I venture into gold, silver-plate and brass. Forest Whimsy Designs jewellery ranges from wrapping in silver, gold and copper to silver, copper and brass metal work. I believe that the act of wearing jewellery is a creative process: that it has the power to enhance beauty; to create persona; and to enable one to express oneself.
