Born and raised in rural British Columbia, Lois Thomson grew up with a strong creative spirit. Her lines, imagery, and choice of colours speak clearly of the rich flowing subtleties and textures she sees in rock, fauna, and water. Lois was a graduate of the BC Academy of Fashion Design. She moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1993, which created an opportunity to use her talent and her love for color and fashion art again. Many of her designs are inspired by the beautiful ocean, mountains, and wildlife of British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast where she lives.
Every piece Lois paints begins as a white canvas. Each piece is a unique; individually hand-drawn and painted work of art. She uses high quality fibre dyes, mixing all her own colours. Her expression is delicate, soft and flowing.
Her washable easy care one-of-a-kind original silk creations include kimonos, wall hangings, and scarves. All dyes are permanently set using a hot steam process, and then each piece is washed to guarantee colour-fastness, then pressed and brought to you with love! Lois also works with other natural fibres, of cotton and wool.
