Penny hand dyes and sometimes hand spins luxury yarns which she uses to create handwoven textiles such as blankets and household linens intended both for use and display. The yarns are also enjoyed by other artisans and crafters. She enjoys bringing science and mathematics into her work, using mathematics as it manifests in nature as a basis for asymmetrical design. She works with traditional hand looms and weave structures.
