I’m a painter working primarily in oils, and occasionally in watercolour, acrylic and mixed media. Since graduating from Emily Carr University in 2009, I have been exploring an intuitive style of painting. The initial brush strokes are unpremeditated and the painting becomes associated in my mind with certain ideas as I work on it. Those ideas then guide the completion of the painting.
In recent years, my work has been quite introspective and repeatedly returns to the experience of “being human”, and psychological states of mind. Artists whose works influence me include J.M.W. Turner, Gordon Smith, Claude Monet and Sunshine Coast artist Todd Clark.
I am fortunate to be a member of the enthusiastic and creative group of painters called EDGES. We meet monthly to share our works with each other, show together when we can, and participate as a group in the Sunshine Coast Art Crawl held each October. My work is displayed on my website, and visits to my studio in Halfmoon Bay can be arranged by appointment.
