Christina Norberg
The Intimate Universe
Christina Norberg works in mixed media sculpture, painting, and textiles. Drawing from psychology, mythology, philosophy, biology, quantum physics, and feminist theory, her mixed media work explores the interconnectedness and healing of all things, from the earth to the human psyche. As a therapist, she witnesses how healing one’s relationship with oneself transforms their relationships, worldview, and actions. What we do, individually and together, shapes the whole. We hold far more power than we realize. Norberg’s work examines the nature of consciousness itself. As an artist, she is interested in where psychology, mythology, philosophy, biology, quantum physics, and feminist theory intersect. She expands on these intersections through fractals, symbols, and abstracted flowing forms and landscapes.
The Intimate Universe explores intimacy in relationships on every level — atomic, human, global, and cosmic. It asks how healing fractures and divides within our psyches, our relationships, and the collective might help us avoid destroying ourselves and our planet. We live in an interconnected cosmos where every small part reflects the greater whole. Across physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, and astronomy, we see that as systems grow more complex, they depend on deeper interconnection and intimacy. When growth happens without these qualities — as we see in aspects of our current global economy — we see othering, conflict, and destruction.
