Join us for the return of this popular workshop exploring visible mending techniques with instructor Catherine Nicholls.
Mending can be so much more than just patching a hole! Mending Matters will introduce participants to the simple, practical skills required to repair textiles and how to turn those simple stitches into an art form that is both decorative and functional. Participants are encouraged to bring along a favourite clean piece of clothing or household textile they would like to mend.

These sessions aim to build understandings of slow fashion values and sustainable, ethical fashion. By sewing, mending and repurposing your clothing, you are making a meaningful contribution to climate action by extending the use of the item, keeping it from the landfill and waterways.

Catherine Nicholls lives and works in Gibsons, b.c. now, but she has traveled a lot! Those travels, the natural world around her, and the people she meets along the way are the things that inspire her. Stories, legends and the history of people, place and culture provide her with the creative raw materials for exhibitions in North America and abroad. Teaching forms a big part of her life, with workshops in patchwork and quilting techniques, sketchbooks and journaling, life drawing, design, and more being offered in her home studio and studios around the world. She holds qualifications in patchwork and quilting from city and guilds and is a brand ambassador for Mettler Threads.
