Cooking with Colours…an Autumnal Palette
Working with tea, rusted metal and onion skins
Sunday, September 29, 2024
12:30-3:30pm
Natalie Grambow, a natural dyes expert, will teach and lead fabric dyeing using materials commonly available at home such as tea, rusted metal and dried onion skins. In large communal dye pots, participants will have the opportunity to try various resist binding techniques and will experience the thrill of unwrapping their experiments to see what the dye has revealed!
This drop-in hands-on art event is by donation with all supplies provided. Participants may optionally bring:
• one well-washed garment to dye (no bigger than a t-shirt please) made exclusively from cotton, silk, and/or linen (no wool or bulky materials please)
• small rusted piece of metal that can be used for dying (e.g. nail, small chain)
**Please wear clothing and shoes you can get messy, and plan to stay at least one hour to benefit from the results of the dyes best. Dress appropriately for outdoor weather as making will largely take place under cover in our gardens.
