Gaalen lives in Vancouver where his shop is located in the corner of his backyard. “Found” wood from blown down or diseased trees on city boulevards or golf courses are his preferred sources for turning. His bowls and other objects are made from various species of local wood such as birch, cherry, fir and maple. Besides being functional and visually beautiful, all bowls are finished with 5 coasts of food-safe tung oil.
