“Copper Emerging” – Abstraction of a copper bearing geological formation. The texture, patinas and earth tones are inspired by the unique natural patterns and colours of a fissured rock outcrop where copper, turquoise and gold seem to burst and sparkle from deep in the rock. Copper is sometimes found as a free element and is present in many BC minerals.
In this painting I used recycled man-made materials such as plastic, fabric, cardboard and acrylic paints and medium, complementing it with natural crushed turquoise, copper paint and a layer of copper patina.
“Argentium” – Abstraction of a silver-bearing geological formation. The texture, patina and earth tones are inspired by the unique natural patterns and colours of a fissured rock outcrop where silver and gold seem to burst and sparkle from deep in the rock. Silver is a common precious metal from my native Peru.
In this painting I used recycled man-made materials such as aluminium foil, plastic, acrylic paints and medium complementing it with sand silver dust and layers of silver paint. Inspired by the site of the mine that bears its name; an active open pit copper mine in BC.
“Atlantis” I & II – Inspired by Atlantis, a legend created by Plato still popular more than 2,000 years later. The texture, patina and earth tone palette is inspired by emerald green waters and idyllic green lush islands in warm climates.
In this painting I used recycled man-made materials such as plastic, acrylic paints and medium complementing it with sand, gold foil and layers of gold paint.
