Many aspects of an artist’s career involve professional documentation and written materials, be they for proposals to galleries or grantors, sales, and presenting one’s work to the public online. This workshop will introduce best practices for the artist’s professional portfolio, including the artist resume, biography, statement, and artwork documentation. Participants will be guided through determining which approach is best suited to their needs, and will consider samples to leave better equipped to refine their own materials.
Annie Briard (BFA, MFA) has extensive teaching experience including as an Instructor in the undergraduate program at Emily Carr University where she teaches studio art, theory and professional practice courses. Since 2015, she has been the Public Engagement Progammer at ECUAD and previously was the Director at CARFAC. Her solo exhibitions have been presented across Canada and she has participated in shows internationally, including at the Three Shadows Photography Centre (Beijing), Lincoln Film Centre (NYC), the Switzerland Architecture Museum (Basel), Matadero Madrid, among many others. Her public art projects have been commissioned by the Vancouver Art Gallery, Capture Photography Festival, the city of New Westminster, the city of Victoria and others.
