While there are no current opportunities for artist residencies with us, our programming is constantly evolving, and we encourage you to check back here in the future, or subscribe to our newsletter for weekly updates about what we’re up to.

Past Residencies:

Artists in Our Midst

While the pandemic created lots of interruptions to the normal ways we gather, it also opened up new possibilities for ways we were able to support our local communities. Between 2020-2021, in partnership with Sechelt Downtown Business Association, we took stewardship of a storefront that provided us (and continues to) the chance to offer local artists and organisations space for making and sharing. A series of 4 residencies – Nadina Tandy, Mieke Bray, the Samara Collective, and SC Fibreshed – provided studio space access, alongside a modest honorarium. In exchange the artists were asked to create opportunities for the public to observe their practice and engage with their work.

The success of this has now translated into a 3-year residency by Coast Salish weaver, Jessica Silvey, where, beginning in 2021, we will offer an intergenerational weaving program for women and girls on the Coast, that shares practices and dialogues across indigenous and settler communities. See Weaving A Gathering Place for more information.
