“Sea Anthology” – In the classic movie “The Little Mermaid”, Ariel lives in a whole other world under the sea. She loves collecting treasures from up above. Within her collection of human-made “thingamabobs”, she has a fork…and she is fascinated by it.

The fork featured in this piece was found on one of my many beach walks (a.k.a. treasure-hunts) along the Sunshine Coast. For as long as I can remember, the ocean has fascinated me, and the treasures that wash up on the shore always excite my imagination: What is this treasure’s story? Where did it come from? Who was the previous owner?

Sea Anthology ignites the imagination, allowing your inner child to create a magical story that is unique to you

“Time Capsule” – I was born in 1984 but always felt I was born in the wrong era. Vintage, rusted old things make my heart sing. This work is a blend of passed-on trinkets, washed up beach treasures, and forest finds. One of my most fascinating finds was the barnacle-covered gun featured in this piece. I can’t help but wonder what the owner’s life was like and what the gun, and every other piece, experienced on their journey through time.

Time is a complex concept that I am still trying to wrap my head around, but one thing I have learned is that everything in the world– every trinket, plant, animal, or otherwise – is a time capsule waiting to be discovered.
