Born in Saltzburg, Austria, John immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1950. John has lived in many parts of Canada, residing longest in Northern Manitoba. Once retired from INCO metals, John and his wife moved to the Sunshine Coast. Always creative and a self-taught artist, John started painting in the 1960’s and continued painting oils and watercolours, drawing, printmaking and carving for most of his adult life.
Always an outdoors man, John enjoys portraying the natural world around him and capturing moments that have made an impression on him, translating and incorporating them into his art. Recently Chapman Creek and water have been some of his favourite subjects.
