This workshop will introduce you to carving and printing wood-blocks and is ideal for beginners. You will be shown how to prepare tools, paper, transfer, cut, register and print the blocks. Demonstrations will be given on the various ways to apply ink and print, from using a press to hand printing with water-based ink. Different types of paper will be used and their properties explained. You will need to bring a 9 X 12 inch sketch a white pencil and an hb pencil; whatever cutting tools they have, and an apron is advisable. All other materials and tools are supplied.

Award winning painter and print maker Leonard Brett was a founding member, president and designer of the Dundarave Print Workshop on Granville Island in Vancouver. A graduate of the Vancouver School of Art, Leonard has been teaching art in some capacity since the mid-1970s. He has shown his work extensively, including our very our Doris Crowston Gallery.

Fee: $200/$260 (Members/Non-Members), includes materials and use of tools
