Mapping Swiya
May 18 + 19, 2024
Capilano University Campus

Mapping Swiya is a gathering that considers the role of stories in shaping our understanding of Sechelt through Indigenous ways of knowing. Mapping Swiya troubles colonial devices of maps and timelines, and considers ways to disrupt and transform mapping as a critical tool for decolonial futures. Working with artistic practice as a space for transformation, Mapping Swiya brings together artists, curators and knowledge-holders to share consider strategies for shifting understandings and reimagining relationships to the lands, air and waters that we call home.
