Our Sunshine Coast Centre is one of the most active in the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and is celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2015. We hold meetings with speakers on the 2nd Friday of every month (except July and August): admittance is by donation. We hold a free Astro Café at Davis Bay where we take out our telescopes on the seawall for public viewing on the 3rd Friday of every month. As of June 27, 2015, our observatory at the Sunshine Coast Regional Airport opened and we hold regular “star parties” where members use the observatory telescope as well as their own scopes on site. We educate the public on Light Pollution and Abatement issues and conduct regular outreach at public events. We produce a half hour astronomy TV program called “Night Lights” for Coast Cable which is now going into its second season.
